The Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) made an appeal to the Centre to take steps to ensure protection of the minorities in Bangladesh.

SP President Akhilesh Yadav, in a statement here on Monday, said, “No community, whether majority of Bangladesh with different views or the minority following Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist or any other religion-sect-belief, should be a victim of violence”.

“This matter should be taken up vigorously by the government of India as a means of protecting human rights at the international level. This is also a very sensitive topic of our defense and internal security,” he added.

Akhilesh Yadav in his critical comment says,” The government which remains a silent spectator in such a situation should accept that it is the failure of its foreign policy that the circumstances in the countries adjacent to it in all directions are neither normal nor favorable for it. This means that from a ‘geopolitical’ point of view there has been a serious mistake in its foreign policy. Only through mutual understanding and brotherhood, by binding a large geographical area with the thread of cultural proximity, peace and tranquility can be brought to various troubled regions of the world.”

“Harmony and peace born from positive thinking is the path to human prosperity,” he said.

SP President said that world history is a witness to the fact that in various countries, violent people’s revolutions, military coups, and anti-government protests have taken place against the government in various countries, on the basis of the test of time, for right and wrong reasons.

“It is the duty of every country to protect the country and its countrymen. On the basis of positive human thinking, it is the human responsibility of every civilized society to protect every resident-neighbor as an individual, no matter at what time, place and circumstances,” he added.

Meanwhile, BSP chief Mayawati in a tweet on Social media X on Monday evening wrote,” The violence that has been taking place against the Hindu community and other minorities living in Bangladesh in the last few days, irrespective of caste and class, is very sad and worrying.”

She further said, “The Central Government should take this matter seriously and take appropriate steps, otherwise they may suffer major losses.”
